Artist Statement
“I create miniature interiors to explore absence - the absence of a person, of belonging, of resolution. These intimate spaces are constructed from recycled materials, yet they are equally composed of silence, light, and emotion. I intend for my miniature interiors to evoke the quiet tension of anticipation and the weight of empty space.
In my pencil studies, I examine the distortion of reflected surfaces as a means to bridge the gap between realism and fantasy. These drawings allow me to step beyond what is materially present and approach the imagined through the observed. This inquiry also resonates in my writing practice, where visual and emotional distortion become narrative tools.
My linocut prints of the countryside offer a meditative counterbalance - a grounding in the here and now. Carving each scene is a ritual, and printing becomes a way to reconnect with landscape as a sanctuary. These works are slower, steadier, and rhythmically cut from memory and observation. They remind me where I am, even while I continue to seek what’s not yet visible.”
